1. What is groove?

The definition of groove is: according to the design or technological needs, the groove which is to be welded into a certain geometric shape is called groove. What kind of groove do we usually see? Commonly used groove forms are I-shaped groove, Y-shaped groove, U-shaped groove with blunt edge, double Y-shaped groove, single V-shaped groove with blunt edge, etc.

2. Do you know about welded joints?

Welded joints are called welded joints, which are composed of welds, fusion zones, heat affected zones and their adjacent base metals. In the welding structure, the welded joints play two roles. The first is the connection, that is, to connect the two weldments into a whole; the second is the force transfer, that is, to transfer the load borne by the weldments.

3. How many kinds of welds do you know?

Welds can be divided into butt weld, fillet weld, plug weld and end weld.

4. Weld width?

The interface between the weld surface and the base metal is called the weld toe. In the cross section of a single weld, the distance between the two toes is called the weld width.

5. Main Causes of Welding Stress

(1) Thermal stress. For the welded workpiece, the welding process is a local non-uniform heating process and non-uniform cooling process. This non-uniform cooling and heating process will cause thermal stress in the workpiece.

(2) Restraint stress. Because of the rigid restraint of the component itself or the external restraint, the thermal expansion is not smooth during welding, resulting in restraint stress of the component.

(3) Phase transformation stress: stress caused by uneven structural transformation in the joint area during welding.
